Setting up a Landscape Design Business
Next to garden tours, how to set up and run a landscape design business was the most frequently requested program topic in the recent member survey. Please join us this month for an engaging panel discussion with three landscape designers/architects, representing different business models and approaches to careers in landscape design.
Ryan Keith of Redux Garden & Home, Linda Nichols of Hidden Lane Landscaping and Design, and Lynley Ogilvie will describe their basic business models, how they promote their business and work with clients, their fee structure, lessons learned in the landscape business, and contractual and legal considerations. This is the stuff they don’t teach us in our landscape design classes… Even experienced landscape designers can pick up a few ideas to use in their own business. Bring your questions!
Tuesday, February 25th at 7:00pm - McLean Community Center, 1234 Ingleside Ave, McLean, VA 22101.
Please join us for a great program, and simply reply to this email or to firstname.lastname@example.org <mailto:email@example.com> if you can make it so we can have a headcount.
Since we still have a few openings in our program calendar, we would welcome the opportunity to see a few gardens that you may have designed or explore any other topic that may be of broad interest to our membership. Please contact anyone on the Program Committee if you can help. Thanks for your feedback and suggestions.
A peak ahead: Our program in March will build on Februrary’s discussion and focus on marketing and the use of social media in your landscape design business. Thursday, March 27th at 7:00 pm also at the McLean Community Center. (I know that makes 3 programs in a row in VA. We’re trying to plan more programs in MD and DC later in the year, so things balance out).
